Four first-inning runs helped the Alaska Goldpanners (6-7) to a 5-4 win over the Matsu Miners (6-14) at Hermon Brothers Field on Wednesday.

The Matsu Miners scored on a fielder's choice in the first inning, an RBI single by Branden Berry in the third inning, and a two-run home run by Erik Harbutz in the fifth inning. Despite their efforts, the Matsu Miners couldn't get over the hump.
Kevin Casey had two extra-base hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Tyler Davis was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
