The Worcester Tornadoes (24-58) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Newark Bears (28-55), and the Worcester Tornadoes lost 8-7 to the Newark Bears after falling behind by five runs in the seventh inning.

The Worcester Tornadoes scored four runs in the eighth on two solo blasts and a two-run single by Alex Nunez. Unfortunately, the Worcester Tornadoes weren't able to take the lead back.

Mike Richard got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Jorge Vasquez put together a nice outing. Vasquez held the Worcester Tornadoes hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five.

Michael Gedman racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Worcester Tornadoes. He singled in the second and sixth innings and homered in the eighth inning.

Omar Javier recorded the win for the Newark Bears. He allowed three runs over five innings. Javier struck out eight, walked five and gave up three hits.

Walker McKinven (1-4) took the loss for the Worcester Tornadoes. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
