The Newark Bears outlast the Rockland Boulders in extras, 3-2

The game between the Newark Bears (22-50) and the Newark Bears went into extra innings, but when the last out was recorded the Newark Bears emerged with a 3-2 victory.

With the score tied at two in the twelfth inning, D'Angelo Jimenez came to the plate and homered.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

James Roche did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Newark Bears, reaching base four times. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the tenth and twelfth innings.

Mike Ness baffled the Rockland Boulders (38-33), striking out eight batters. Ness allowed two earned runs, four hits and five walks over nine innings.

Caleb Cuevas recorded his first win of the year for the Newark Bears. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered no hits.

Chris Rubio ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
