Adam Klein had three extra-base hits for the Gary SouthShore. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the third and seventh innings.
Chuck Lukanen recorded the win for the Gary SouthShore. He allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Mike Ness (2-1) took the loss for the Newark. He allowed 12 runs in five innings, walked two and struck out three.
The Gary SouthShore easily handled the Newark pitching as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
