Early lead not enough for the El Paso Diablos, drop 5-3 decision to the Laredo Lemurs

The El Paso Diablos (44-46) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 5-3 ballgame against the Laredo Lemurs (49-43) on Saturday at Uni-Trade Stadium.

The Laredo Lemurs took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI double by John Allen.

Jimmy Mojica got a hit in each of his four at bats. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.

The El Paso Diablos had no answer for Edwin Walker, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The El Paso Diablos managed just two hits off of the the Laredo Lemurs' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his three innings of work.

Daniel Nelson racked up two RBIs on one hit for the El Paso Diablos. He doubled in the third inning.

David Casillas was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

The Laredo Lemurs were sparked by Javier Brito and Mojica, who teamed up for six hits and two RBIs.
