The Winnipeg Goldeyes (50-38) beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats (44-45) 7-2 on Wednesday at Gary, Ind. (U.S. Steel Yard) behind Luis Alen, who went 1-4 and hit a home run.

He homered in the fourth inning.

Chris Salamida got the win for the Winnipeg Goldeyes thanks to seven strikeouts. Salamida allowed one earned run on eight hits and no walks over seven innings.

Brian Kolb reached base three times in the game for the Gary SouthShore RailCats. He singled in the first and fourth innings.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes had no answer for Marshall Schuler, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Schuler held the Winnipeg Goldeyes hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Alberto Rolon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked five and struck out three.
