Amos Ramon drove in the go-ahead run to give the Winnipeg Goldeyes (47-32) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Winnipeg Goldeyes hung on to beat the Wichita Wingnuts (46-34) 3-1 on Saturday.With the Winnipeg Goldeyes trailing by one, Ramon came to the plate and homered.
Ramon had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the sixth inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
The Wichita Wingnuts had no answer for Brian Beuning, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Beuning held the Wichita Wingnuts hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
Chris Salamida improved to 4-5 on the year by picking up the win for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. He allowed one run over six innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered six hits.
Anthony Capra (1-2) took the loss for the Wichita Wingnuts. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
