Mackey leads the Lincoln Saltdogs to 2-0 victory thanks to 5 strikeouts

A superb effort by Wade Mackey led the Lincoln Saltdogs (31-45) to a 2-0 win over the Wichita Wingnuts on Monday at Haymarket Park.

Mackey kept the Wichita Wingnuts (44-32) off the board during his eight innings of work. Mackey struck out five and allowed three walks and four hits.

AJ Miller pushed the Lincoln Saltdogs ahead, in the eighth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Matt Forgatch reached on an error to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a single by Alberto Espinosa. Finally, Miller came to the plate with the game scoreless in the eighth inning and singled, bringing home Forgatch.

Nick Walters couldn't get it done on the hill for the Wichita Wingnuts, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
