Cooper allows no runs to lead the Worcester Tornadoes past the Gary SouthShore RailCats 2-1

Kevin Cooper held the Gary SouthShore RailCats (21-31) scoreless for 6 2/3 innings to boost the Worcester Tornadoes to a 2-1 victory.

Cooper allowed four hits, four walks and struck out five.

Chris Torres helped the Worcester Tornadoes pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. Ryan Brockett to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Brandon Pickney. Finally, Torres came to the plate with the game scoreless in the sixth inning and singled, bringing home Brockett.

The Worcester Tornadoes would not relinquish the lead as the Gary SouthShore RailCats were unable to weather a two-run sixth inning deficit.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by David Cooper. Despite their efforts, the Gary SouthShore RailCats couldn't get over the hump.

Morgan Coombs was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
