The Sioux Falls Pheasants seize victory thanks to late triple, drop the Gary SouthShore RailCats 4-2

The Sioux Falls Pheasants (23-18) outlasted the Gary SouthShore RailCats (16-26) on Sunday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 4-2 win at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Jonny Kaplan paced the Sioux Falls Pheasants at the plate. Kaplan went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Despite the loss, the Gary SouthShore RailCats' Will Krout dominated the Sioux Falls Pheasants' batters, giving up one run and striking out five.

Jack Van Leur improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Sioux Falls Pheasants. Van Leur struck out none, walked none and gave up two hits.

Marco Gonzalez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
