A great effort by Jon Gaston hoisted the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (20-19) to a 12-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (15-23) on Thursday at Newman Outdoor Field.
Gaston blasted two home runs for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Gaston went 2-5 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Gaston homered in the seventh and eighth innings.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks blew out the Lincoln Saltdogs thanks to 20 hits, including zero extra base hits. An RBI single by Sergio Pedroza and a three-run home run by Gaston helped the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks score four runs in the eighth. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks had five hits in the inning.
David Espinosa put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Lincoln Saltdogs. He doubled in the third innings and tripled in the eighth inning.
Alex Caldera got the win, running his season record to 6-1. He allowed two runs over five innings. Caldera struck out two, walked three and gave up six hits.
Thomas Palica was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
