Dan Coury drove in the winning run to give the Kansas City (16-16) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Kansas City hung on to beat the Newark 7-4 on Monday.Burt Reynolds doubled to start the seventh. He then went from second to third. Finally, Coury came to the plate with the score tied at three in the seventh inning, and hit into a fielder's choice, bringing home Reynolds.
Ray Sadler racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Kansas City. He homered in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Brian Grening struck out seven hitters en route to the the Kansas City win. Grening allowed two earned runs, five hits and no walks over eight innings.
Matt Lyons couldn't get it done on the hill for the Newark, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
