The Lincoln (3-4) trailed by two in the ninth, but the Lincoln recovered thanks to a key double in the eleventh inning from John Alonso to pull out a 5-3 win in 11 innings over the Wichita (4-3) at Lawrence Dumont Stadium on Sunday.
With the score tied at three, Alonso came to the plate and doubled, plating Mike Provencher and Leivi Ventura.
Alonso racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Lincoln . He doubled in the eleventh inning.
The Lincoln were led by Leugim Barroso's hitting. Barroso went 2-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
Pete Parise improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Lincoln . Parise struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Nick Walters couldn't get it done on the mound for the Wichita , taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
In the bottom of the first, the Wichita grabbed the early lead, 2-0. John Rodriguez singled to ignite the Wichita 's offense. CJ Ziegler singled, bringing home Jared McDonald. The Wichita then tacked on more runs when Rodriguez scored on a sacrifice fly by Mitch Einertson.
The Lincoln never trailed after scoring two runs in the eleventh on a two-run double by Alonso.
