USSSA Pride vs Akron Racers: 5-4

The USSSA Pride survive the Akron Racers 5-4 thanks to Kretschman's late-game heroics

Kelly Kretschman drove in the go-ahead run to give the USSSA Pride (29-12) the lead in the fifth inning, as the USSSA Pride hung on to beat the Akron Racers (14-28) 5-4 on Friday.

Lauren Lappin reached on an error to start the fifth. She then went from first to second on a groundout by Natasha Watley. Finally, Kretschman came to the plate with the USSSA Pride trailing by one in the fifth inning, and hit a sacrifice fly, plating Lappin and Ashley Charters.

The USSSA Pride staved off the Akron Racers as the Akron Racers were unable to match the USSSA Pride down the stretch.

The Akron Racers scored one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Lisa Modglin. Unfortunately, the Akron Racers weren't able to take the lead back.

Francesca Enea racked up two RBIs on two hits for the USSSA Pride. She singled in the second and fifth innings.

Sarah Pauly recorded her eighth win of the year for the USSSA Pride. She allowed four runs over seven innings. Pauly struck out three, walked one and gave up 11 hits.

Erin Arevalo (1-5) took the loss for the Akron Racers. She lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
