Great game from the Chicago Bandits' Abbott not enough in 5-4 loss to the Carolina Diamonds

Monica Abbott did her part in the circle, but it wasn't enough to carry the Chicago Bandits (16-12) to a win on Sunday, as the Chicago Bandits fell to the Carolina Diamonds (12-15) 5-4 at Ballpark at Rosemont in 11 innings.

Abbott handled the Carolina Diamonds' lineup with ease, racking up 17 strikeouts. Abbott allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks over 11 innings.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the eleventh, with five lead changes.

The Carolina Diamonds took the lead in the eleventh inning and held on for the victory. And gave the Carolina Diamonds the lead for good.

Rachel Folden racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Carolina Diamonds. She singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth innings.

Angel Bunner improved to 3-5 on the year by picking up the win for the Carolina Diamonds. She allowed four runs over 11 innings. Bunner struck out three, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Abbott (9-1) was the game's losing pitcher.
