The Marthas Vineyard Sharks seize victory thanks to late solo home run, drop the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 5-4

After five lead changes in Friday's game at Doyle Field, the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (12-12) finally pulled out a 5-4 win over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (5-25).

The Marthas Vineyard Sharks held off the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, as the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs were unable to overcome a two-run sixth inning deficit.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs scored one run in the eighth on an RBI single by Bobby Pease. Still, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs couldn't catch the Marthas Vineyard Sharks.

Justin Meier reached base four times in the game for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Matt Doyle improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out seven, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Joe Saia was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
