The Torrington Titans make the most of 5 hits in 7-6 victory over the Pittsfield Suns

The Torrington Titans (9-5) and the Pittsfield Suns (7-10) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Torrington Titans capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 7-6 win at Wahconah Park.

The Torrington Titans staved off the Pittsfield Suns as the Pittsfield Suns were unable to match the Torrington Titans down the stretch.

The Pittsfield Suns scored on a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Ricoy and an RBI single by Ryan Deitrich in the third inning, a single by Paul Speicher and an RBI double by Michael Rueger in the fourth inning, and an error in the fifth inning. Still, the Pittsfield Suns couldn't draw even.

Ryan Plourde got on base two times in the game for the Torrington Titans. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.

Travis Landry looked sharp on the mound. The Pittsfield Suns managed just one hit off of Landry, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Zach Ferris couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Pittsfield Suns, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked five and struck out one.
