The Richmond RiverRats survive the Butler Blue Sox 5-3 thanks to Campbell's late-game heroics

Cody Campbell drove in the go-ahead run to give the Richmond RiverRats (26-19) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Richmond RiverRats hung on to beat the Butler Blue Sox (27-20) 5-3 on Saturday.

With the score tied at one, Campbell came to the plate and homered.

Campbell was hot from the plate for the Richmond RiverRats. Campbell went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The Richmond RiverRats held off the Butler Blue Sox, as the Butler Blue Sox were unable to overcome a three-run sixth inning deficit.

The Butler Blue Sox scored on a single by Matt Albaugh in the seventh inning and a passed ball and a steal of home by Elliott Caldwell in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Butler Blue Sox weren't able to take the lead back.

Peter Spear picked up the win for the Richmond RiverRats. Spear pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Joey Hoelzel was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed one run.
