The Orleans Firebirds (22-19) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Brewster Whitecaps (16-24), and the Orleans Firebirds lost 6-5 to the Brewster Whitecaps after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.
The Orleans Firebirds scored on a solo home run by Michael Montville in the fifth inning, an RBI single by Derek Toadvine and an RBI single by Reed Gragnani in the eighth inning, and an RBI single by Max Rossiter in the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Orleans Firebirds weren't able to take the lead back.
Trevor Mitsui paced the Brewster Whitecaps at the plate. Mitsui went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the second and eighth innings.
The Orleans Firebirds had no answer for Chase McDowell, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Orleans Firebirds managed just two hits off of McDowell, who allowed two earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his five innings of work.
Montville put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Orleans Firebirds.
Brandon McNitt couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Orleans Firebirds, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in seven innings, walked none and struck out eight.
