A magnificent effort by Jarrett Arakawa carried the Orleans Firebirds (22-17) to a 4-2 win over the Falmouth Commodores (19-20) on Friday at Eldredge Park.
Arakawa picked up the win for the Orleans Firebirds. Arakawa pitched eight innings and allowed no earned runs, three hits and one walk while striking out four.
Michael Montville pushed the Orleans Firebirds ahead, in the seventh inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. With the score tied at one, Montville came to the plate and homered, scoring Angelo LaBruna.
Montville racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Orleans Firebirds. He homered in the seventh inning.
The Orleans Firebirds staved off the Falmouth Commodores as the Falmouth Commodores were unable to match the Orleans Firebirds down the stretch.
The Falmouth Commodores scored one run in the ninth on an RBI single by Billy Ferriter. Unfortunately, the Falmouth Commodores weren't able to take the lead back.
John Colella was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
