The Bourne Braves fend off the Chatham Anglers' late push, hold on 5-3

The Chatham Anglers (16-17) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Bourne Braves (13-19) on Tuesday, as the Chatham Anglers fell 5-3 at Veterans Field after falling behind by four runs in the second inning.

The Chatham Anglers scored two runs in the sixth on two doubles. Despite their efforts, the Chatham Anglers couldn't get over the hump.

The Chatham Anglers couldn't slow down Jack Reinheimer, who paced the Bourne Braves with five hits. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings and doubled in the sixth and ninth innings.

The Chatham Anglers had no answer for Timothy Giel, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Giel held the Chatham Anglers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Dace Kime was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Bourne Braves batters and allowing zero runs.

Jaron Long got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. Long struck out three, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Eric Stevens (1-4) took the loss for the Chatham Anglers. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
