The Cotuit Kettleers (15-10) trailed by two in the eighth, but Patrick Biondi was able to capture the lead back with a single in the eighth, spurring the Cotuit Kettleers to a 5-3 win over the Brewster Whitecaps (11-14) at Stony Brook on Saturday.
With the score tied at three in the eighth inning, Biondi came to the plate and singled, plating Mike Ford.
Biondi had a hot bat for the Cotuit Kettleers. Biondi went 1-4 and drove in one. He singled in the eighth innings.
Ford racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Cotuit Kettleers. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
The Brewster Whitecaps had no answer for Dusty Isaacs, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Isaacs held the Brewster Whitecaps hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
Sam Moll was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Cotuit Kettleers batters and allowing zero runs.
Niko Spezial was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
