A great effort by Tom Windle spurred the Brewster Whitecaps (10-12) to a 7-0 win over the Orleans Firebirds (14-8) on Tuesday at Eldredge Park.
Windle brought the heat against the Orleans Firebirds during his outing. The Orleans Firebirds managed just one hit off of Windle, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out eight during his six innings of work.
The Brewster Whitecaps blew out the Orleans Firebirds thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run single by Jeff McNeil helped the Brewster Whitecaps score two runs in the sixth. The Brewster Whitecaps had three hits in the inning.
Ryon Healy put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Brewster Whitecaps. He doubled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the first and seventh innings.
Jerad Grundy (1-1) took the loss for the Orleans Firebirds. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
