The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox jump on the Chatham Anglers early and coast to 12-2 win

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (8-7) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Chatham Anglers (8-6), recording a 12-2 victory on Sunday at Red Wilson Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A solo home run by Robert Pehl during the first inning and a two-run home run by Justin Shafer in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

Shafer racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

The Chatham Anglers had no answer for Anthony Montefusco, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Montefusco held the Chatham Anglers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

John Martinez racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Chatham Anglers. He homered in the fourth inning.

Alex Gonzalez got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over four innings. Gonzalez struck out three, walked one and gave up three hits.

Jimmy Litchfield couldn't get it done on the mound for the Chatham Anglers, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
