Saturday was a great day for Austin Wilson, as he hit two home runs to carry the Harwich Mariners (7-2) to a 9-2 victory over the Cotuit Kettleers (4-5) at Lowell Park.
The Harwich Mariners turned the win into a rout with two runs in the ninth. A two-run home run by Sam Dove delivered the runs in the ninth. The Harwich Mariners had one hit in the inning.
The Cotuit Kettleers had no answer for Cole Pitts, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Pitts held the Cotuit Kettleers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five.
Cael Brockmeyer was hot from the plate for the Cotuit Kettleers. Brockmeyer went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Eddie Campbell recorded his first win of the year for the Harwich Mariners. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered five hits.
Jordan Smith (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
