Whitehead allows no runs to lead the Harwich Mariners past the Wareham Gatemen 7-1

David Whitehead kept the Wareham Gatemen (3-4) off the board during his six innings of work and the Harwich Mariners (5-2) beat the Wareham Gatemen, 7-1.

Whitehead allowed three hits, two walks and struck out two.

The Harwich Mariners blew out the Wareham Gatemen thanks to 15 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Harwich Mariners scored three runs in the first on a two-run home run by Eric Jagielo and an RBI single by Austen Smith.

Matt Reida had three extra-base hits for the Harwich Mariners. He singled in the first inning, homered in the sixth inning, and tripled in the second and eighth innings.

Jared Ruxer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

Austin Wilson, Jagielo and Reida helped lead the Harwich Mariners. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
