Phil Ervin had two extra base hits as the Harwich Mariners (1-0) took home an 8-5 victory over the Bourne Braves (0-1) at Whitehouse Field on Thursday.

The Bourne Braves' lineup had no answer for David Whitehead. The Bourne Braves managed just three hits off of Whitehead, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out two during his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Bourne Braves' Timothy Giel dominated the Harwich Mariners' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.

Mike Ahmed racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Bourne Braves. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the ninth inning.

Shane Taylor (0-1) took the loss for the Bourne Braves. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed three runs.

Ervin, Matt Reida and Sam Dove helped lead the Harwich Mariners. They combined for five hits and four RBIs.
