Ross Davis pitched eight shutout innings, but it wasn't enough to carry the Normal CornBelters (28-65) to a win on Thursday, as the Normal CornBelters fell to the Florence Freedom (54-39) 1-0 at The Corn Crib.

Jim Jacquot pushed the Florence Freedom ahead, in the ninth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Eddie Rodriguez singled to start the ninth. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Jacquot came to the plate with the game scoreless in the ninth inning and singled, scoring Rodriguez.

Brent Choban recorded his third win of the year for the Florence Freedom. Choban struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Kyle DiMartino couldn't get it done on the mound for the Normal CornBelters, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
