The Lake Erie Crushers (25-21) beat the Southern Illinois Miners (27-19) 5-2 on Friday at All Pro Freight Stadium behind Brian Erie, who went 4-4 at the plate.
He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the second, fourth, and eighth innings.The Lake Erie Crushers got the win thanks in large part to Alex Loftin's dominant, five-strikeout performance. Loftin allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks over six innings.
Brian Fowler ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
