Eric Gonzalez-Diaz held the Joliet Slammers (35-49) scoreless for six innings to boost the Lake Erie Crushers (48-36) to a 2-1 victory.

Gonzalez-Diaz struck out three and allowed no walks and three hits.

The Lake Erie Crushers would not relinquish the lead as the Joliet Slammers were unable to weather a two-run fifth inning deficit.

The Joliet Slammers scored one run in the seventh on an RBI single by Matt Mirabal. Still, the Joliet Slammers couldn't draw even.

Adrian Ortiz led the Lake Erie Crushers' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the third inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Jim Schult (5-7) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just eight innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
