The Joliet Slammers (16-17) and the Schaumburg Boomers (20-13) each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but the Joliet Slammers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-4 win at Silver Cross Field.

The fact that the Joliet Slammers grouped all of their runs into the fifth inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

It was a good day at the plate for the Joliet Slammers' Josh Lyon. Lyon went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.

Gerard Hall got on base four times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth innings and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.

Jake Renshaw improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Tyler Watkins (1-4) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
