The Schaumburg Boomers (20-11) and the Joliet Slammers (14-17) traded the lead five times on Wednesday, but the Schaumburg Boomers ended up on top with a 5-4 win over the Joliet Slammers.

The Schaumburg Boomers held off the Joliet Slammers, as the Joliet Slammers were unable to overcome a two-run eighth inning deficit.

The Joliet Slammers scored one run in the eighth on a solo home run by Areo Regoli. Still, the Joliet Slammers couldn't draw even.

Robby Donovan got the win, running his season record to 4-1. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered eight hits.

Daniel Carela (2-1) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
