The Schaumburg Boomers (14-9) didn't have a chance on Tuesday, as the Joliet Slammers (12-11) won in blowout fashion, 8-0 at Silver Cross Field.
The Joliet Slammers scored four runs in the eighth on a steal of home by Jimmy Waters, a wild pitch, an RBI double by Abel Nieves, and an RBI triple by David Fox.
Waters reached base three times. He singled in the third inning.
Wander Alvino pitched lights out for the Joliet Slammers. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of Alvino, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four during his five innings of work.
Tyler Watkins was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
