Vladimir Frias drove in the go-ahead run to give the Gateway Grizzlies (32-25) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Gateway Grizzlies hung on to beat the Schaumburg Boomers (33-24) 6-3 on Saturday.Rogelio Noris singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to third on a single by Chris McClendon. Finally, Frias came to the plate with the score tied at two in the eighth inning, and reached on an error, bringing home Noris.
It was a good day at the plate for the Gateway Grizzlies' Frias. Frias went 3-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Alex Kaminsky handled the Schaumburg Boomers' lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. Kaminsky allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over seven innings.
