Great game from the Florence Freedom's Catapano not enough in 1-0 loss to the Schaumburg Boomers

A great day by Maxx Catapano wasn't enough to carry the Florence Freedom (4-4) to a win on Saturday, as the Florence Freedom fell to the Schaumburg Boomers (5-3) 1-0 at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium in 13 innings.

Catapano kept the Schaumburg Boomers off the board during his eight innings of work. Catapano struck out five and allowed one walk and three hits.

Drew Heithoff pushed the Schaumburg Boomers ahead, in the thirteenth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Nick Kuroczko singled to start the thirteenth. He then went from first to second on an error. Finally, Heithoff came to the plate with the game scoreless in the thirteenth inning and, bringing home Kuroczko.

Jose Rodriguez improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Jorge Marban (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The Schaumburg Boomers' lone run of the ballgame came in the thirteenth inning on a wild pitch.
