The Orleans Firebirds take out the Chatham Anglers with help from Conde, 7-3

Vince Conde went 2-3, helping the Orleans Firebirds (3-1) to a 7-3 victory over the Chatham Anglers (2-1) on Saturday at Veterans Field.

He singled in the fifth and eighth innings.

Jeremy Rhoades pitched lights out for the Orleans Firebirds. Rhoades held the Chatham Anglers hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Despite the loss, the Chatham Anglers' Chad Sobotka dominated the Orleans Firebirds' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out six.

Corey Miller got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Matthew Gage couldn't get it done on the hill for the Chatham Anglers, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
