The Brewster Whitecaps (14-24) beat the Chatham Anglers (25-12) 8-1 in eight innings on Tuesday at Stony Brook after a five-run explosion in the eighth inning.
Cole Lankford put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Brewster Whitecaps. He doubled in the seventh and eighth innings.
Justin Kamplain looked sharp on the mound. Kamplain held the Chatham Anglers hitless over five innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six.
Aaron Garza was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
The Brewster Whitecaps were sparked by Lankford and Scott Heineman, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
