The Grand Lake Mariners drub the Lake Erie Monarchs, 9-3

The Lake Erie Monarchs (5-16) didn't have a chance on Friday, as the Grand Lake Mariners (10-13) won in blowout fashion, 9-3 at Ned Skeldon Stadium.

The Grand Lake Mariners scored four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Matthew Paculan, an RBI single by John Brodner, an error, and an error.

Paculan racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Grand Lake Mariners.

Cory Klinger pitched lights out for the Grand Lake Mariners. Klinger held the Lake Erie Monarchs hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

It was a good day at the plate for the Lake Erie Monarchs' Brett Murray. Murray went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Jake Baldwin improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Grand Lake Mariners. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered five hits.

JD Nielsen couldn't get it done on the bump for the Lake Erie Monarchs, taking a loss. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
