The Springfield Sliders (10-40) built an early lead against the Terre Haute Rex (25-26), scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 3-2 win on Saturday at Bob Warn Field.
Kyle Desimone was solid at the plate for the Springfield Sliders. Desimone went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.
The Terre Haute Rex had no answer for Jordan Pesko, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Terre Haute Rex managed just two hits off of Pesko, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out two during his four innings of work.
Cody Bolen got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over five innings. Bolen struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits.
Taylor Horn was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
