Ruckel helps the Richmond RiverRats down the Butler Blue Sox 5-4

Garrett Ruckel went 1-3, helping the Richmond RiverRats (21-33) to a 5-4 victory over the Butler Blue Sox (31-23) on Saturday at McBride Stadium.

He doubled in the first inning.

The Richmond RiverRats relied on Patrick Van Daalwyk to eat up innings en route to the win. Van Daalwyk pitched eight innings and allowed three earned runs, eight hits and no walks while striking out four.

Taylor Schmidt did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Butler Blue Sox, reaching base three times. He singled in the second and sixth innings.

Anthony Battaglia brought the heat against the Richmond RiverRats during his outing. The Richmond RiverRats managed just one hit off of Battaglia, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Robert Hawkins couldn't get it done on the mound for the Butler Blue Sox, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
