The Lorain County Ironmen get on top of the Richmond RiverRats early but can't hang on in 3-2 loss

The Lorain County Ironmen (16-24) built an early edge on Saturday, but the Richmond RiverRats (17-25) roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at McBride Stadium.

An RBI single by Robbie Stein gave the Richmond RiverRats the lead in the eighth inning.

Patrick Van Daalwyk kept contact to a minimum, striking out nine the Lorain County Ironmen batters. Van Daalwyk allowed two earned runs, four hits and no walks over eight innings.

Isaac Smith was hot from the plate for the Lorain County Ironmen. Smith went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.

Matt Ellenbest ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
