A walk-off single from Jimmy Pickens brought home the winning run for the Chatham Anglers (26-12) in a 6-5 victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (17-21) in 10 innings at Veterans Field on Wednesday.
Pickens racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Chatham Anglers. He homered in the ninth innings and singled in the sixth, seventh, and tenth innings.
The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox couldn't get anything going as long as Mitch Merten was on the mound. The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox managed just one hit off of Merten, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
Darrell Hunter ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
