Both the Brewster Whitecaps (9-16) and the Cotuit Kettleers (16-10) put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Brewster Whitecaps that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-5 win at Stony Brook.
It was a good day at the plate for the Brewster Whitecaps' Scott Heineman. Heineman went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and second innings and tripled in the fourth innings.
Corey Taylor put together a nice outing. Taylor gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Mike Ford racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Cotuit Kettleers. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Jared Walsh ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
