The Cotuit Kettleers (11-6) used a three-run explosion in the seventh inning to get past the Brewster Whitecaps (3-13) 8-2 on Tuesday at Lowell Park.
Logan Ratledge put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Cotuit Kettleers. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the eighth inning.
The Brewster Whitecaps had no answer for Brian Miller, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Miller held the Brewster Whitecaps hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Despite the loss, the Brewster Whitecaps' Matt Pirro dominated the Cotuit Kettleers' batters, giving up three runs and striking out six.
Patrick Corbett improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Cotuit Kettleers. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Pirro was charged with his second loss of the year.
