Orleans Firebirds vs Chatham Anglers: 6-5

The Orleans Firebirds take out the Chatham Anglers with help from Marconcini, 6-5

Chris Marconcini had three extra base hits, helping the Orleans Firebirds (11-12) to a 6-5 victory over the Chatham Anglers (15-8) on Sunday at Veterans Field.

He doubled in the sixth inning and homered in the ninth inning.

The Chatham Anglers' lineup had no answer for Bobby Poyner. Poyner gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Mitchell Gunsolus boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Chatham Anglers. He singled in the first, fourth, and seventh innings.

Matt Troupe improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Orleans Firebirds. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Chad Sobotka (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.

The Orleans Firebirds were sparked by Zach Fish and Marconcini, who teamed up for six hits and two RBIs.
