A walk-off single from Dante Flores brought home the winning run for the Chatham Anglers (3-0) in a 5-4 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps at Veterans Field on Saturday.
Flores was hot from the plate for the Chatham Anglers. Flores went 1-4 and drove in one. He singled in the ninth inning.
Ryan Leach looked sharp on the mound. The Brewster Whitecaps (0-2) managed just one hit off of the the Chatham Anglers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
A bright spot for the Brewster Whitecaps in the defeat was Jake Stinnett, who allowed only zero runs while striking out six.
Jacob Dorris improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chatham Anglers. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Jonathan Keller was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run.
