Early lead not enough for the Washington Wild Things, drop 4-2 decision to the Lake Erie Crushers

The Washington Wild Things (22-25) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 4-2 to the Lake Erie Crushers (23-23) on Tuesday.

A two-run single by Craig Hertler gave the Lake Erie Crushers the lead in the seventh inning.

Hertler racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Lake Erie Crushers. He singled in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.

The Lake Erie Crushers relied on Dave Middendorf to eat up innings en route to the win. Middendorf allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.

Shain Stoner racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Washington Wild Things. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Gary Lee was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
