The Schaumburg Boomers (24-19) beat the Southern Illinois Miners (23-19) 7-1 on Thursday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium after a four-run explosion in the fourth inning.

Alexi Colon racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

James Bierlein brought the heat against the Southern Illinois Miners during his outing. Bierlein held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Mike Giovenco improved to 4-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered three hits.

Richard Sullivan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out none.
