A superb effort by Scott Dunn lifted the Traverse City Beach Bums (25-14) to an 8-0 win over the Lake Erie Crushers (17-21) on Sunday at Wuerfel Park.
The Traverse City Beach Bums' Dunn kept the Lake Erie Crushers off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up two.
Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Traverse City Beach Bums to easily put away the Lake Erie Crushers. A two-run triple by Jose Vargas and an RBI single by Chase Burch during the first inning and a two-run single by Burch in the second inning fueled the Traverse City Beach Bums' offense early.
Burch racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums.
Matt Smith was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
