Early lead not enough for the Rockford Aviators, drop 3-1 decision to the River City Rascals

The Rockford Aviators (6-21) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-1 to the River City Rascals (10-17) on Tuesday.

An RBI single by Phil Wunderlich gave the River City Rascals the lead in the eighth inning.

Will Block reached base two times in the game for the River City Rascals. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Tommy Mendoza brought the heat against the Rockford Aviators during his outing. The Rockford Aviators managed just two hits off of Mendoza, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Nick Kennedy improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the River City Rascals. Kennedy struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Drew Rucinski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
